Our Skin Therapists’ Choice: Dermal Therapist Charlotte

Do you ever feel like you’ve fallen into a routine with your skincare routine, but you don’t know where you start to change things up? Sure, you can go onto Instagram and find a beauty guru who’ll give you 70 different options for morning serums—but how do you know what really works?

We went straight to the professionals to get the answer.

Meet Charlotte, Dermal Therapist at Lavish Skin & Body. Charlotte has mostly normal skin, but sometimes suffers from dehydrated skin. Through trial and error, Charlotte has locked down a skin routine that keeps her skin hydrated, healthy, and happy. Learn more below.

What has your skin journey been like?

I’m really loving my current routine. I find that certain products need to be changed up seasonally, or different zones of your face may need different products from time to time. Less is sometimes more—I’ve found that sometimes my skin even needs a break from certain products. Trialling and experimenting with different products over time has helped a lot, but I try not to complicate my routine too much.

Changing up my routine from time to time and simplifying it has been important for me and has enabled my skin to thrive! I slowly introduce products so that I can gradually strengthen my skin without overloading it.

What is your daily skincare routine like?

For daytime, I use the La Prairie Absolute Filler moisturiser as well as Aspect’s Envirostat SPF 50.

In the evening, I like to use La Prairie Supreme Balm Cleanser, Cosmedix Benefit Clean Gentle Cleanser, Cosmedix Surge Hyaluronic Acid Booster serum, Cosmedix X-Cell+ brightening serum, and I alternate between Vitamin A products (Cosmedix Elite Serum 24, Cosmedix Refine Refinishing Treatment, and Cosmedix Define), La Prairie Skin Caviar Eye Lift, La Prairie Skin Caviar Absolute Filler, and Dr. Spiller Sensitive Beauty Day Care.

What kinds of treatments do you love?

In terms of at-home treatments, it’s so, so important to exfoliate twice a week! This removes dead skin and allows your serums and actives to penetrate as deep as they can. The key is to make sure you don’t over-exfoliate.

In salon, I love to get Dermafrac, which is a micro-channeling skin treatment. It’s a little bit invasive, because the skin needs to be challenged. It’s important to change up treatments so your skin gets some variety.

What products have you found to be game changers?

Lactic acid, salicylic acid, and loads of antioxidants. Love them! I also love La Prairie Absolute Filler—it’s noticeably volumising, plumping, and hydrating. It’s also luxurious and super nourishing!

I also love La Prairie’s Cellular 3-Minute Peel. It reveals smooth and even baby-soft skin. I adore this product! It minimises blackheads and exfoliates the skin. Followed by the sleep mask, it’s absolutely divine—everyone who’s tried this product loves it!

What are your favourite in-salon treatments to perform?

Needling/micro-channeling, implementing 3 different modalities. Firstly applying negative suction force, micro-channeling while infusing an active serum selected for the client’s specific skin concerns, and finishing off with LED therapy to rejuvenate and calm the skin. This winning combo delivers subtle yet strong results.

All these products are available for purchase in clinic or alternatively please contact us on (03) 9827 9243 or hello@lavishskinandbody.com.au and we can arrange for these to be sent directly to you.
