The New Year’s Resolutions Your Skin Needs This Year
When you’re making your list of New Year’s resolutions, are you thinking of your skin? We are! In 2021, prioritise your skincare habits with these simple resolutions to get the glowing, radiant complexion you’ve always wanted!
Sunscreen every day—even when it’s overcast!
We all know that daily sunscreen use is vital for achieving healthy, vibrant skin, but how many of us actually wear SPF every single day? Especially at this time of year, when we’re spending more time in the sun than usual, sunscreen is key to avoiding discolouration, signs of ageing, or even more dire consequences. We recommend SPF30 or higher, even when it’s cloudy. If you’re spending lots of time outside under the hot Aussie sun, reapply as necessary.
Listen to your skin
Are you guilty of hopping on skincare trends and buying whatever is popular or has nice packaging? We’ve all been there! But instead of using a product because it’s trendy, it’s time to start listening to what your skin really needs. Just because a product or technique is popular, it doesn’t mean it will be right for your skin. Make sure your skincare routine will benefit your skin and target your exact concerns. No idea where to start? You can book in for a skin consultation and one of our therapists will give you a full analysis of your skin!
Clean up your diet
This resolution makes an appearance on all our lists every single year, but often not for skincare reasons! Your diet and water consumption can have a huge effect on your skin on top of having a plethora of other health benefits. Cleaning up your diet can lead to fewer breakouts, plumper skin, and a youthful glow.
Go through your makeup bag
Do you have concealers that have been floating around in your drawer for months? Brushes that you haven’t gotten around to cleaning lately? Powders that you bought years ago and have lasted you until now? It’s time to cull! Old cosmetic products and dirty brushes and sponges can lead to lots of different skin issues: acne, irritation, redness, and more. Set aside some time to sort through your products, clean your brushes, and throw out anything that’s been hanging around for too long—then make an effort throughout the year to update your makeup bag and keep your brushes clean. You might be surprised by the difference it makes!
