Peels stimulate skin renewal using mild, medium or strong purified active ingredients. Peel strength varies, from light to enhance skin tone, texture & smoothness, to deeper peels designed to address problems including pigmentation, acne scarring, sun and age damage.
How do Skin Peels Work?
Skin peels are a powerful and effective skincare treatment designed to exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin, revealing a smoother, more radiant complexion. If you are looking to reduce fine lines, treat acne scars, improve pigmentation, or address uneven skin tone, skin peels provide dramatic results by encouraging cell turnover and skin renewal. Skin peels are suitable for all skin types. Your tharpist will recommended the best skin peel to cater for your skin goals and skin type.
Skin peels use a combination of exfoliating acids ( such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or lactic acid) to gently remove the out layer of dead skin cells. This process stimluates the skin's natural healing response, promoting new cell growth and collagen production. Depending on your skin concerns, the intensity and depth of the peel can be customised to deliver the best results, whether you need a superficial, medium, or deep peel.
What to expect
Our therapist will work with you to choose the right peel for your skin concerns. These range from Level 1 peels that offer a light exfoliaton and no downtime through to more advanced Level 2 and 3 peels that do require some downtime but generate more dramatic results.
Each skin peel treatment typically lasts about 45 - 60minutes. After a thorough cleansing of your skin, the peel solution is applied and left on for a specific amount of time. You may feel a mild tingling sensation as the peel works to exfoliate the skin. After the treatment, you may experience some mild redness or peeling, which typically subsides within a few days, leaving your skin smoother and brighter.
Recommended Treatment Course:
For optimal results, we recommend 3-6 skin peel treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. This allows for gradual improvement in skin texture and tone, with long-lasting effects. Your skincare therapist will recommend a personalised treatment plan based on your skin’s needs.
Is there any downtime after a skin peel?
The downtime varies depending on the strength of the peel. After a light peel, there may be mild redness or peeling for a day or two. For medium or deep peels, you may experience peeling or redness for up to a week. Your skincare therapist will provide aftercare instructions.
Are skin peels safe for all skin types?
Yes, skin peels can be customised to suit all skin types, including sensitive skin. However, it’s important to consult with a skincare therapist to determine the best type of peel for your specific needs.
Can skin peels help with acne and acne scars?
Yes, skin peels are highly effective in treating acne and acne scars. The exfoliating acids help unclog pores, reduce inflammation, and promote skin healing, leading to clearer skin and diminished scars over time.
