Mineral Makeup: Why it is so important

We often consider the health factor of what we’re putting into our bodies when we eat and drink (just think about how many fad diets exist!), but how often do we stop to think about what goes onto our skin? 

Many of us take the time and effort to invest in great quality skin care and treatments, but it’s just as important to take into consideration what makeup you’re using and what it’s made from. 

When it comes to picking the right makeup products, there are many factors to consider. At face value, many look for how well it matches their skin, the longevity of the product and the overall look of the product. 

Aside from how great it may look on your skin, however, it’s important to think about the impact the ingredients could be having on your skin's health.

So what should I avoid?

There are two main ingredients to avoid when it comes to your makeup products:

Fragrance

If it smells too good to be true, it probably is. Fragrance is one of the top 5 allergens in the world, so check the ingredients of your products to ensure they are fragrance free and won’t irritate your skin. 

Parabens

You may often read ‘paraben-free’ on labels and wonder what that actually means. Found in over 70% of cosmetics, parabens are preservative chemicals that mimic estrogen, so they can cause trouble with your hormones.
